At Maximus, we make a difference every day. We match families with the right healthcare coverage so they can find a doctor in their neighborhood who speaks their language and meets their unique medical needs. We help individuals find a path to sustainable employment. We improve the lives of children and their families by connecting them to vital child support resources. We protect patients’ rights through an independent and objective appeals process for health programs such as Medicare and Medicaid. Maximus is pleased to have been named one of the “World’s Most Admired Companies” by Fortune Magazine.
Maximus gives back to the communities in which we live and work through our foundation. The Maximus Foundation focuses on providing financial support for nonprofit organizations and charities dedicated to helping disadvantaged populations and underserved communities in the areas of:
- Youth and child development
- Community development
In 2021, the Maximus Foundation supported 154 nonprofits in 29 states and the District of Columbia with more than $1.2 million in funding.
- For example, the Maximus Foundation supports La Clínica del Pueblo in Washington, D.C., which increases access to mental health services for low-income Latino families, and the People’s Community Clinic in Central Texas, which improves the health of the medically underserved and uninsured.
Maximus is committed to operating our business sustainably, reducing our impact on the environment and communities we serve.
- For example, in 2019, Maximus launched an initiative to measure and disclose our environmental impact in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol – in partnership with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development – and the Carbon Disclosure Project’s global standardized frameworks. The resulting insights will directly inform our environmental policy going forward.
- In 2020, we piloted our LED light installation program across 13 sites in the U.S., projected to provide more than $1 million and 5.5 million kWh in savings per year.
Maximus respects international human rights principles aimed at promoting and protecting human rights, including the United Nations Global Compact, the United Nations Guiding Principles on Businesses and Human Rights, and the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. Importantly, Maximus recently adopted a global human rights statement, reaffirming our commitment to comply with all relevant laws related to workplace health and safety, prohibition of forced and child labor, anti-harassment and anti-discrimination, freedom of association, hours and wages, and employee privacy.
